Ministry Mutiny: A Youth Leader Fable

see relatedAnd An Update...
Hey everyone! I know it has been a while since my last update but fear not I have not died. Today I hope you all are ready for this because it is going to be a long update. To say the least God has been doing a number on me and well it has not been the most fun ride I have been on, but a worth while one nonetheless. Let it be known whatever ride however fun or not fun is the right ride to be on if that is where Jesus is. It truly is my desire to be one who is in the constant ebb and flow of the Spirit of God. Yet this last week and a half has been a trying time as the Spirit of God has been tugging on me deeply to do that which I know I should do...yet I put it off? Have you ever experienced that? If you just answered no...there is a 99.99 percent chance that you are lying. And if you happen to be that .01 percent then good on ya, but for the rest of us, instant obedience is something we all struggle with. Now believe me when I say this that I am the first person that I look at when I go to preach something, or I hear the word of God. When I make a comment like "the youth will only grow as deep and grow in numbers as you have depth in your own relationship with Christ, to guide and feed them." I am the frist on the chopping block, and I realize that I fall short of the Glory of God and what He wants for me and the ministry He has placed in my hands.
It is truly my heart to make disciples and to release leaders. But in order to do this I need to first be one, this has been the challenge of the Holy Spirit to me in my life over the last 3 months. Thus I have started to teach on discipleship to the youth in prayer and faith that they will catch a hold of the heart that Christ has given me to raise true followers of Christ, and will in turn want to do the same. The lesson that I am going to share right now, comes from the study that we had at the 2nd "RooTs" meeting. This is the first of what I pray will be hundreds of gatherings across the city and lower mainland. Jeremy Tardif, did the ground work on this one (He is in grade 7), he prayed got the word from God, studied it out, got supporting scriptures and the main thought to share. From there I took over and we explored all the supporting scriptures that Jeremy gathered and asked questions. By the end of the night we walked away having had fun, bonded, and 14 Qualitites of a Disciple. So for reading sake my next post will be "The 'D' Word..."
